Chaplain Volunteer Associates
Chaplain Associates work out of the Pastoral Care Department. They visit patients in the following hospital areas: medical/surgical, telemetry, and the Skilled Nursing Facility to provide emotional and spiritual care to patients and their families. Associates will also have contact with patients and their families in the various waiting rooms and lounges of the hospital.

 

        The duties of a chaplain associate include, but are not limited to:

 

·  Providing patient, family and staff visitation

· Reporting to the Pastoral Care Office on the days and at the times scheduled with the department

· Reviewing assigned visits from Coordinator or his designee, and reviewing any patient information supplied about patients

· Completing as many assigned visits as possible while allowing time necessary for effective care giving

· Providing patients and their families emotional and spiritual care as desired by the patients and families

· Responding to referrals given by hospital staff or ensuring that referrals are forwarded to the Coordinator of Pastoral Care

· Completing the visitation report forms supplied by the Department

· Upon completion of duties, reporting back to the Coordinator to review visits made

· Attending periodic department meetings that occur for continuing education department business

· Maintaining strict confidentiality with regard to patient information and patient issues

· Wearing identification provided by the department while on duty as Chaplain Associate, but not at other times present in the hospital

· Maintaining a high level of personal hygiene, including abiding by Department Dress Code

· Complying with hospital policies, including volunteer health testing
